This is a very special Freebie Friday. For the first time ever, one lucky reader will get a peek at the follow-up to DEATH BY BIKINI... DEATH BY LATTE, which doesn't hit the shelves until September.
Without giving up too much, in DEATH BY LATTE, Aphra takes to the road and meets a handsome stranger in Seattle. And, of course, she becomes embroiled in another adventure...
For today's giveaway, I want to hear about your travel romances. For example, my dad is a professor. During the summer between my 9th and 10th grades, our family's vacation consisted driving from town to town where he and a group of other professors gave lectures. At one point, we crossed the border into Mexico, where I met this really cute local guy at the hotel swimming pool. I mean, really cute. Dark hair, warm, chocolate eyes, wide grin. He barely spoke English, I barely spoke Spanish, but we hung out at the pool together every day and flirted and he even kissed me the night before we packed up and headed for the next town. The whole rest of the trip was melancholy, me imagining how things might have progressed had we stayed in that town longer...
Want to be the first on your block to read DEATH BY LATTE? Tell me your best boys on the road story to be entered to win an Advanced Readers Copy!
Note... I'm heading out of town again this weekend (Scotland! Yeah!) so this contest will remain open until I hit a hotel with Internet access... Monday or beyond. Keep those stories coming!
Edited to add: I'm also blogging over at Teen Fiction Cafe about summer romances this week... if you're in the story-telling mood, you could hop over and tell us about your favorite summer romance. You might even win bonus points toward being selected for the DBL ARC for doing so...

AND (FINALLY) THE WINNER IS...
Hey, guys. As you can see, I am waaaay behind getting caught up from being gone last week! I'm knee deep in edits, had two interviews to fill out, a guest blog and a Puffin promotion to prepare for and all sorts of other good stuff. ANYWAY, by way of apology for my tardiness, I have chosen two winners this week:
AMBEEN
(Begging works!)
(Begging works!)
and
DOMINIQUE
(Love the untanned dragon story...)
Please send me your mailing info at gerb at lindagerber dot com and I'll get the books sent out to you!
Thanks for your comments, everyone. Come on back in just a couple of days for this week's FREEBIE FRIDAY.

FREEBIE FRIDAY!
Alright, so this month, as part of a Penguin promotion, I'll be sending off a signed copy of Death by Bikini to todays lucky winner.
Death by Bikini is about girl who lives on a island resort, which is fine until an odd mix of characters come to the island. This mix is deadly, literally. So since this book takes place somewhere with a beach and I got burned really bad in Mexico, to be entered to win a copy of the book, just tell me about your worst sunburn.
Edited to add: I'm back! Who guessed that this post and the winner post previous to this wasn't me? Bonus points if you recognized the difference in voice. Thanks to my dear daughter for filling in while I was still traveling. As she mentioned, I got good and sunburned in Cabo, but it was so worth it - I was swimming with dolphins!
The promotion she mentioned actually kicks off July 2 at Plug into Penguin. It will include galley giveaways, podcasts, Q&As and excerpts. You won't want to miss it!
Meanwhile, keep those sunburn stories coming. The drawing will remain open until Monday. Have a great weekend!
And the Winner is...
Lexi!
Ok, so just please send me your mailing info at gerb at lindagerber dot com so I can get your copy of NOW AND ZEN sent off to you.
Thanks all for responding. This topic has gotten a lot of different answers. Sounds like school languages can make or break the hope of going to that country. For those who would be too worried to forget their studied language if placed in a situation where you'd have to use it, I know what you mean. That would drive me crazy! Of course some places are so great that language would only be a road bump. At least if you'd studied the language you could some how get around. English speaking countries are always good though, it's a lot easier to get around. Well, come back next Friday for more Freebies!

FREEBIE FRIDAY!!!
This month I learned SASS: NOW AND ZEN has been nominated as an ALA Popular Paperback pick. In honor of the nomination, today's lucky winner will receive a signed copy.
SASS: NOW AND ZEN is about an exchange student who goes to Japan and finds her inner Zen. To be entered to win a copy of the book, tell me where you would want to go if you had a chance to study abroad.
Now here's the tricky part... I'll be on a ship on Monday and I'm not entirely sure I'll have Internet access to announce the winner, so this will stay open until I find an Internet cafe on shore... be sure to check back!

Thanks everyone for sounding off. This has been one of my favorite discussions on the blog. Some really good points brought out.
For me, it's difficult to choose between Edward and Jacob. Both have qualities that make them attractive... and drawbacks. If we could take the best from each and blend it together, we'd have the perfect guy! Meanwhile, I lean a little toward Jacob because I don't really like who Bella is with Edward. (Needy, self-depreciating.) Of course, I really like how Edward sparkles...
Thanks again for playing. Come on back next Friday for more Freebies!

Freebie Friday! Jacob or Edward?
Happy Friday, everyone! How's your start of summer so far?
Today's offering is extra fun for all you Twilight fans out there. A NEW DAWN is the Borders Exclusive anthology featuring essays by YA authors such as Megan McCafferty, Cassandra Clare and yours truly. We tackle such ageless questions as - Is Edward a romantic or a (really hot) sociopath? and Who would you rather date - the guy who thirsts after your blood, or the guy who drinks from the toilet?
To be entered to win a copy of A NEW DAWN, answer the question in the subject line. On Monday, I'll announce the winner, so please check back.
(I do have some winners from previous weeks who haven't claimed their prizes. Remember, if I don't have your contact info, I can't give you the good news. Eventually those prizes will be recycled...)
Have a fabulous, sunny weekend! Let the games begin!

Congrats to TFC sister TERI BROWN on the release of her debut book, READ MY LIPS. Check out her cool book trailer: (Note - for some odd reason, the trailer doesn't fit here next to the archives list on some computers so you may need to scroll down a bit to find the trailer...)
