Freebie Friday

Okay, so I'm supposed to be at BEA right now. Instead, I'm sitting at my desk in my yukata with a can of flat sprite by my side (all I can keep down) and feeling tremendously sorry for myself that I'm missing out on everything.

I'm not sure what I have. I think it's the flu. All I know is I feel wrung out and really, really bummed. (Whine, whine, wallow, wallow.)

BUT that's not what I was going to post about! I promised you a bonus and here it is: I just got an extra box of DEATH BY DENIM c/o my agent, who got a bunch of copies from my publisher. This is on top of the author copies I got in the first place. So I have extras!

For this week's freebie, I'm going to give away five signed copies. Here's five ways you can be entered to win one of them -
1. If you were at the Author Carnival in New York yesterday, tell me about it!
2. If you are attending BEA, tell me about it!
3. If you know of a good flu remedy, please tell me about it!
4. If you just really want a copy, tell me about it!
5. If you have already have a copy, you can nominate one of your friends to win!

I will draw the winners on Tuesday, June 2.

P.S. If you are a book blogger and would like to give away some copies of DEATH BY DENIM, please send me a note at gerb (@) lindagerber (.) com and I'll hook you up (as long as supplies last.)

P.P.S. To my regular readers and previous winners... you may notice that I am a little behind getting the prizes sent out. (I need an assistant!) As of tomorrow's post office run, though, I should be all caught up. If you have won something and haven't received it by next week, please let me know and we'll double check the list!

I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Hope you feel better soon! I can't wait to read DBD. I shall definitely be checking my mailbix faithfully all next week!

Well, first off, I'm sorry you're feeling bad!
Second, I'm sorry you aren't @ BEA (me either) and I wish we could both be there, happy and healthy.

Okay, so I really want to read it! And I'll provide you with a possible (but nasty!) remedy for your ailment.

1 lemon, orange, and grapefruit peeled and pulped to remove seeds. Blend with 1/2 onion and 2-3 cloves of garlic, until as smooth as possible. Take by the spoonful, up to 1/2 cup per day.

Nasty! But my friend swears by it. Personally, I've never been sick enough to brave it!

Hi Linda!
2. Gee, I wish I was attending BEA right now! Paul Auster, Diana Gabaldon, Ingrid Berzins Leuzy... everyone's there!
3. For the flu, I'd swear by rice soup with lots of plain balkan-style yougurt and mint!
4. I just really want a copy! I just got my copy of Death by Bikini yesterday from Amazon! I can't wait to read it, and then the next book, and then I'll be all set to read Death by Denim. So I need a copy, stat!
:-)

Aww, that really sucks that you're not feeling well - especially the awful timing as well! Hope you feel better really really soon.

As for a remedy, well... chocolate cures just about everything ;) Especially Lindt Lindor or Ferrero Rocher. (jk) I'll be back later with an actual remedy ;)

And I'd love to win a copy of DBD :)

1. Wants to go. Some friend went--super jealous!
2. Same as above. But even more jealous!
3. Sleep, water, TV, and ignore all stress. Definitely surround yourself with cheerful things :D (not a real remedy...)
4. Umm...I really want a copy! lol
5. Can I nominate me, myself, and I? :P just kidding.

Feel better, at least it isn't 20 degrees anymore :) (or I hope it won't be 20 degrees anymore...)

Eewww. I was feeling that remedy right up until the onions and garlic, SweetMelissa! It probably works - it's just nasty enough sounding...

I think I could much easier do the soup, mint and yogurt, Deniz! Thanks.

Thanks, Melody!

Love the groveling, Melody (penguin)!

Oooh! Yes! Chocolate is my favorite remedy so far, Deltay. : )

Hmmm. Ignore stress, Yan? I so wish that I could!!

Oh, yes, Tasha. Chamomile tea is soothing. I wonder how it goes with chocolate? : )

Thanks, Donna. I hope that works!

Thanks, Meredith!

One of the best things (well, besides sleep) is citrus and ginger. The ginger will calm things down, and the citrus acts as a disinfectant. Ginger ale is a good start, but if you can, have some ginger tea. Water with fresh squeezed lemon juice is excellent. Chamomile and peppermint teas are helpful as well. If you reeeeally want to get this crap out of your body quick, you can always do the massive grand maul cleanse. That is 1 cup of water, the juice from one lemon (organic preferably), 1 to 2 tbsp 100% pure maple syrup, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Yes, that'll clear things out.

As for D by D, I finally got one! It took B&N over a week to receive their shipment. But I do have to tell you, I heard the coolest thing while I was there the other day. I was sitting at one of the tables at the Cafe, and I overheard a couple of girls talking about YOU! "...yeah, and Linda Gerber will be here one the 23rd to do book signings, and I heard she's bringing a couple of authors with her..." So of course I had to be a geek, and butt in. "Sorry, but I heard you were talking about Linda Gerber? Yeah, she's really cool. I've met her! (Musing a bit out loud) Hmmm, I wonder if I could catch her when she's here and go for lunch..." Too funny.

ps. honey and lemon tea...thats what my mom always makes me whenever I have a cold...but I'm not sure if it works with the flu...my mom thinks lemon is the cure to all respiratory illnesses!

2)I'd really like to go to BEA,but Im not allowed to:(
3)Um...bedrest and water?
4)I'd really, REALLY love a copy of Death by Denim! After I read Death by Bikini I forced all of my friends to read it too...and they loved it also!!!
5)Well I dont have a copy(yet), but I'll loan my friends mine(if I get one!)

Oh man, I can't fulfill any of those requirements, except the fact that I would really like a copy. I'm lying in bed with the flu too, and my only known cure is reading something awesome with something chocolatey nearby. I can't think of something more awesome than Aphra right now.

So please, please, please, I'd really like a copy. And I hope you get well really soon!

For flu, I recommend staying in bed, drinking lots of fluids (diluted juice or 7-up may be easier on the stomach than water, depending on how your stomach is), and using something to keep the fever from getting too high. Then just stay there until better!

Hope you feel much better very soon!!!!!!!
